Entertainers

Dogs Without Collars Dogs without Collars
DWC is the result of a group of Dorset Vicars having an excess of Rock and Roll aspirations over talent. Despite individual group members having (amongst other things) had lorries take out the front of their church or appearing on "The Weakest Link", the desire for fame (and to make a lot of noise) drove them to meet in secret at the clergy equivalent of Rockers Anonymous, much to the relief of their wives and families.

Dickie Lines Dickie and Debbie Lines
Dickie Lines tours the country providing the entertainment for 1940's events. With a mix of character impersonations of stars of the day, Dickie sings the songs of the era and adds plenty of his own comedy touches. Characters currently include Noel Coward, George Formby (with uke!), Bing Crosby, Al Jolson, Jimmy Durante - and a certain German gentleman - with other characters in the pipeline. Dickie is often joined on stage by Miss Dolly Bagg. They both appeared at Maiden Newton at War in 2008 and are back by popular demand!

Sophie Garner Sophie Garner Band
The Sophie Garner Band is a well established group and Sophie has supported artists such as Will Young, The Sugarbabes and Mc Fly! In 1998 she was awarded the Perrier Jazz vocalist finalist of the year. The Sophie Garner Band spans a wide rage of genre but will be drawing on their 1940s set for Maiden Newton at War 2010. Sophie promises to attend in her ATS uniform as pictured right and will be entertaining us throughout Saturday evening.

The Wesses Highlanders The Pipes and Drums of the Wessex Highlanders

We are pleased to announce that the Pipes and Drums of the Wessex HIghlanders will be performing throughout the weekend.

The Wessex Pipe Band formed in September 2001. Since that time they have increased their membership, with not only new pipers and drummers, but with experienced musicians who have migrated to their group because of their relaxed and friendly attitude. The band exists for its members and their principal aim is to have fun and entertain. They like nothing better than to share their hobby with others, and that means sharing their music!

They meet once a week on Tuesday Evenings for practice and at various other times during the year when performing. They wear the Kilt and Argyll Jacket, together with the Glengarry hat, dressed with a red feather Hackle. Their members wear the tartan of their choice.
